The few bridges connecting the island with the surrounding city were a kind of gateway to Ostrów Tumski. One of them, situated at the eastern end of Ostrów and popularly called ‘The Bridge Behind the Cathedral’, has inspired the name of the hotel. Today, Ostrów Tumski is no longer an island, and the plot created after filling one of the Oder’s tributaries in the 19th century is now home to The Bridge hotel standing over what once was ‘The Bridge Behind the Cathedral’.
Ostrów Tumski has always been a special place for the residents of Wroclaw. The Archcathedral of St. John the Baptist is a beautiful example of the ubiquitous presence of Gothic style in Ostrów. The building stands out with its soaring towers reaching the sky, the delicate vaults of the church's naves and the wealth of details, which highlight the beauty of brick, stone and glass.

The hotel fits perfectly into the layout and atmosphere of the Cathedral Square. Its contemporary architecture is inspired largely by old-time craftsmanship, as evidenced by the building's facade made of traditionally fired brick - a material that has created the Gothic identity of this part of the city. The hotel's garden features the Eye of Time - an astronomical clock indicating the seasons of the year. Its shape reflects the course of a former tributary of the Oder River.
